The Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP) is an advanced skill level credential for professionals who lead and direct projects. PMPs perform their duties under general supervision for the duration of a project and are responsible for all aspects of a project. PMPs lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope. Project Managers seeking certification through PMI must possess knowledge and experience to apply a methodology to projects that have well-defined requirements and deliverables. To apply for the PMP, candidates must meet experiential and educational requirements and pass a written exam.

Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree or global equivalent), a minimum of five years/60 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience, and 35 contact hours of formal project management education.
Option 2:Candidate must have a four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent), a minimum of three years/36 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience, and 35 contact hours of formal project management education.
Option 3:Candidate must have a bachelor's or post-graduate degree from a Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) accredited program (bachelor’s degree or master's or global equivalent), a minimum of two years/24 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience, and 35 contact hours of formal project management education.
Note: Active Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) holders do NOT need to document the 35 contact hours. The formal project management education requirement is waived.
Note: All project management experience must have been accrued within the eight consecutive years prior to application submission.
