The North American Technician Excellence (NATE), Air Distribution Specialty (Service) certification is for top level service technicians who work on Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems of 12,000 CFM or less airflow. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. Candidates must meet experience requirements. Candidates must pass both a core and a specialty exam.

The Air Distribution Specialty (Service) credential has the following recertification information:

  • Certification holders may recertify by either earning 16 continuing education credits every two years or by retaking the exam. For more information, see the NATE website.

Additional considerations for the Air Distribution Specialty (Service) include:

  • NATE suggests that candidate have two years of field experience working as a service technician on Air Distribution systems. In addition, candidate should have theoretical knowledge of air distribution systems, acquired either through technical training or experience.

CG Bucks

Current Coast Guard policy states all credentials listed on CG COOL may be reimbursed assuming the enlisted service member meets the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program Policy (COMDTINST 1540.1(series))
