Ship's Electrical Officers administer operation, repair, overhaul and alteration of shipboard electrical equipment such as gyrocompasses, generators, lighting and ventilating equipment, motors, pumps and compressors, interior communication systems and steering engines. Establishes operating routine. Schedules and supervises repair work. Estimates time and material needs. Inspects and conducts operational tests of completed work. Directs requisitioning of spare parts and gear. Prepares machine history records and machinery reports. Trains and assigns personnel. Operates electrical control board during emergencies.
