The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Information Technology Security (ITS), certification covers all areas of cybersecurity for information technology. ITS-certified specialists are expected to have the major knowledge, skills, and abilities in order to perform the professional tasks associated with the development of security plans and processes for information technology and cybersecurity. The ITS certification identifies a specialist’s knowledge of computer hardware and software security measures as well as wireless communications security, device security, cryptography, social engineering, virus detection/mitigation, troubleshooting, disaster prevention/recovery and site risk analysis. ETA-I does not have eligibility requirements for the ITS certification. Candidates must pass a written exam.

RECERTIFICATION

Information Technology Security (ITS)

Renewal Period: 1 year

The Information Technology Security (ITS) credential has the following recertification information:

  • The Information Technology Security (ITS) certification is renewed every year. ITS certification holders must obtain 10 hours of continuing education or submit the Employer Verification Form. A recertification fee is required every year.

    Additional information can be found on the ETA-I website.
  • Note: Marine Corps COOL will only pay recertification fees for the current year, no arrears will be paid. Voucher requests for recertification fees must be submitted with proof of the current status of the certification (for example, a screen shot of your credentialing agency dashboard or a copy of a current fee receipt).

Star

CG Bucks

Current Coast Guard policy states all credentials listed on CG COOL may be reimbursed assuming the enlisted service member meets the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program Policy (COMDTINST 1540.1(series))
