Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Law of Data Security and Investigations (GLEG) is an advanced level certification targeted toward Security and IT Professionals, Lawyers, Paralegals, Auditors, Accountants, Technology Managers or Vendors and individuals interested in the law of business, contracts, fraud, crime, IT security, IT liability and IT policy with a focus on electronically stored and transmitted records. GLEG does not require any prerequisites or specific training. GLEG candidates are required to pass a written exam.

Renewal Period: 4 years

The GIAC Law of Data Security and Investigations (GLEG) credential has the following recertification information:

  • GIAC certifications are valid for four years. Certification holders are required to submit a total of 36 CPEs for each GIAC certification renewal or may take the current exam. Additional information can be found in the GIAC Certification Renewal How-To Guide.
  • Note: Marine Corps COOL will only pay recertification fees for the current year, no arrears will be paid. Voucher requests for recertification fees must be submitted with proof of the current status of the certification (for example, a screen shot of your credentialing agency dashboard or a copy of a current fee receipt).

Additional considerations for the GIAC Law of Data Security and Investigations (GLEG) include:

  • GLEG certification does not require any prerequisites or specific training. Practical experience, self-study, college-level courses, and courses from training providers, including SANS Institute, are options for acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for certification.

CG Bucks

Current Coast Guard policy states all credentials listed on CG COOL may be reimbursed assuming the enlisted service member meets the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program Policy (COMDTINST 1540.1(series))
