The Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI), is a certification for professionals in the security field who have technical training but want to demonstrate analytical proficiency. Areas covered on the GCTI include Strategic, Operational, and Tactical Cyber Threat Intelligence, Open Source Intelligence and Campaigns, and Intelligence Applications and Intrusion Analysis. The GCTI is ideal for Incident Response Team Members; Threat Hunters, Security Operations Center Personnel and Information Security Practitioners; Experienced Digital Forensic Analysts; and Federal Agents and Law Enforcement Officials.  There are no prerequisites to be eligible for the exam. Candidates must pass a written exam.

RECERTIFICATION

GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI)

Renewal Period: 4 years

The GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI) credential has the following recertification information:

  • The GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI) certification is renewed every four years. GCTI certification holders must either obtain 36 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits or take the current version of the GCTI certification exam during each recertification cycle. A recertification fee is required.

  • Note: Marine Corps COOL will only pay recertification fees for the current year, no arrears will be paid. Voucher requests for recertification fees must be submitted with proof of the current status of the certification (for example, a screen shot of your credentialing agency dashboard or a copy of a current fee receipt).

Additional considerations for the GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI) include:

  • The Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) exams are open book format. Candidate is allowed to bring hardcopy books and notes into the testing room.

Current Coast Guard policy states all credentials listed on CG COOL may be reimbursed assuming the enlisted service member meets the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program Policy (COMDTINST 1540.1(series))
