The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Fiber Optics Designer (FOD) is an advanced-level professional credential for Fiber Optics Designers. The exam assesses candidates’ knowledge of optical local area networks. Candidates are expected to understand fiber optic system design from network protocols, network configurations, optical cabling, industry communications standards, determination of fiber count, hardware selection, splicing/termination methods, and cable system testing and documentation.
