The Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification Commission, Inc., Fire Apparatus Technician Level I certification is an entry-level certification that recognizes technicians who service and maintain fire department pumpers, squads, aerial devices, tankers, wildland apparatus, etc. Fire Apparatus technicians are knowledgeable and skilled in design and performance standards, specialized systems and equipment, and the accepted practices used in the service and maintenance of fire apparatus. There are no eligibility requirements for the Fire Apparatus Technician Level I examination. Candidates must pass two EVT written exams and two National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) written exams.
