Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) is a cross-industry credential providing recognition that a training professional has mastered core instructor skills. The examinations are based on a set of objectives designed to measure the core knowledge and skills that competent instructors must demonstrate to complete an instructional assignment successfully both in a classroom and a virtual classroom environment, including preparation, presentation, communication, facilitation and evaluation. While the CTT+ Program was first created for computer training and education, the certification can be applied to all industries that provide technical training, non-technical training and education. To earn the CTT+ designation, candidates must pass both a computer-based test that assesses knowledge and a Performance Based in which the candidate demonstrates prescribed skills. There are no experience or education requirements that must be met prior to taking the exam(s).

Performance Exam Requirements

Note: All CompTIA CTT+ candidates must successfully complete the computer-based test prior to submitting a skills video for scoring.

To earn the CompTIA CTT+ certification, in addition to the written exam, candidates must pass one of two available Performance-Based skills assessments.

  • Candidates interested in earning the CTT+ with the Classroom Trainer designation will submit a recording of a classroom training session to be evaluated by and scored by certified scorers (TK0-202).
  • Candidates interested in earning the CTT+ with the Virtual Classroom Trainer designation will submit a recording online of a virtual classroom training session to be evaluated by and scored by certified scorers (TK0-203).

Candidates can be CTT+ certified with both designations by completing both performance-based exams. Detailed information about the CTT+ performance based assessments is available on the CompTIA web site.

Testing Information

  • Exam Administration

    Credential exams may be administered in-person at a testing site, proctored on-line remotely, or have options for both. If an exam is administered through a test vendor, the third-party test vendor box will be checked. The following test administration options apply to the CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) credential where checked:

RECERTIFICATION

CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+)

Renewal Period: Lifetime

The CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) credential has the following recertification information:

  • The CompTIA CTT+ certification is considered good for life and does not need to be renewed.
  • Note: Marine Corps COOL will only pay recertification fees for the current billing cycle. Voucher requests for recertification fees must be submitted with proof of the current status of the certification (for example, a screen shot of your credentialing agency dashboard or a copy of a current fee receipt).

Additional considerations for the CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) include:

  • Candidates are recommended to have six to twelve months of training experience.

Star

The Skill Level reflects the level, based on MOS training and/or experience, the Soldier should be the most prepared to successfully earn the credential. See the Table Legend for details about each level.

Navy Bucks

Credential voucher or reimbursement for credential exam, re-certification, or maintenance fee has been approved for payment through the Navy's Credential Program Office. CG Bucks

Current Coast Guard policy states all credentials listed on CG COOL may be reimbursed assuming the enlisted service member meets the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program Policy (COMDTINST 1540.1(series))
