The National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), Certified Survey Technician (CST) - Level I is an entry-level credential for professionals who have basic knowledge of field operations and procedures used in survey work; additional skills required include computational ability, survey note taking, drafting/CAD and map reading. Candidates for the CST Level I credential should be familiar with various types of surveys and survey field equipment. In addition to surveyor skills, candidates are required to demonstrate knowledge of basic first aid and safety requirements. Candidates for the CST are required to pass the written exam.

RECERTIFICATION

Certified Survey Technician (CST) - Level I

Renewal Period: 1 year

The Certified Survey Technician (CST) - Level I credential has the following recertification information:

  • NSPS certifications are renewed annually and candidates for recertification are required to pay the certification renewal fee.
  • Note: Marine Corps COOL will only pay recertification fees for the current billing cycle. Voucher requests for recertification fees must be submitted with proof of the current status of the certification (for example, a screen shot of your credentialing agency dashboard or a copy of a current fee receipt).

Additional considerations for the Certified Survey Technician (CST) - Level I include:

  • NSPS does not require any specific education, training, or experience, however it is suggested that candidates for the CST Level I credential should be knowledgeable in the areas addressed in the certification exam.
