Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must meet one of the following eligibility requirement options:
Option 1:Candidate must have nine years of security experience, which includes at least three years in responsible charge of a security function.
Option 2:Candidate must hold the Associate Protection Professional (APP) and have seven years of security experience, which includes at least three years in responsible charge of a security function.
Option 3:Candidate must have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education and have seven years of security experience, which includes at least three years in responsible charge of a security function.
Option 4:Candidate must hold the Associate Protection Professional (APP), have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education, and have five years of security experience, which includes at least three years in responsible charge of a security function.
Note: "Experience" and "responsible charge" are defined in the ASIS International Board Certification Handbook.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidate must have been employed full-time in a security-related role.
- Candidate must sign and agree to abide by the ASIS Certification Code of Conduct.
- Candidate must agree to abide by the policies of the certification program as outlined in the ASIS International Board Certification Handbook.
- Candidate must not have been convicted of any criminal offense that would reflect negatively on the security profession, ASIS, or the certification program.
