The Association of People Supporting Employment (APSE), Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a sufficient level of knowledge and skill to provide integrated employment support services to individuals with disabilities. Individuals will have demonstrated the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to help establish and expand equitable integrated employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Candidates must meet education and experience requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

Candidate must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Option 1:

Candidate must have one year of employment support professional (ESP) work experience, which may include up to a maximum of three months of internship or practicum time.

Option 2:

Candidate must have nine months of ESP experience with training component.

The Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential has the following other requirements:

  • Candidate must agree to abide by the APSE Code of Conduct.

    Credential exams may be administered in-person at a testing site, proctored on-line remotely, or have options for both. If an exam is administered through a test vendor, the third-party test vendor box will be checked. RECERTIFICATION

Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP)

Renewal Period: 3 years

The Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential has the following recertification information:

  • The Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) certification is renewed every three years. CESP certification holders must obtain 36 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credit and submit a recertification application. A recertification fee is required.
  • CESP certification holders may choose to re-take the CESP exam to recertify. Examination fee is required.

  • Note: Marine Corps COOL will only pay recertification fees for the current year, no arrears will be paid. Voucher requests for recertification fees must be submitted with proof of the current status of the certification (for example, a screen shot of your credentialing agency dashboard or a copy of a current fee receipt).

Star

Star credentials are MOS enhancing, as designated by the Proponent. MOS enhancing credentials are directly related to an MOS or ASI, are taught either partially or completely as part of a Program of Instruction (POI), and improves the MOS technical proficiency.

CG Bucks

Current Coast Guard policy states all credentials listed on CG COOL may be reimbursed assuming the enlisted service member meets the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program Policy (COMDTINST 1540.1(series))
