The Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification Commission, Inc., Airport Rescue and Fire-Fighting (ARFF) Technician Level I certification is an entry-level certification that recognizes technicians who work on airport rescue and fire-fighting vehicles. ARFF technicians are knowledgeable and skilled in design and performance standards and preventive maintenance, chassis and vehicle performance, and the extinguishment systems of ARFF vehicles. There are no eligibility requirements for the ARFF Technician Level I certification. Candidates must pass two EVT written exams and three National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) written exams.
