MOS 4512 Combat Graphics Specialist

MOS Description

The Combat Graphics Specialist conceptualizes and creates graphics and layout and design products in both electronic and print formats. These products support communication to internal, domestic and international audiences; commanders’ information requirements; and other operations, garrison, training, and recruiting requirements. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: visualizing the final product desired; creating graphics and illustration products; conducting layout and design of digital products; writing; tailoring products for different audiences (i.e. internal, domestic, international) and mediums (smart packs, the traditional news media, social media, face-to-face engagements, posters, etc.); supporting combat investigations and documentation; conducting high-volume printing and finishing in multiple formats and sizes; transmitting and archiving products; creating traditional/ hand-drawn art products; and performing equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.

The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Network Systems Technician (NST) certification is for a network professional who has knowledge of computer network basic concepts, which are applicable to all the various specialty areas of the computer industry. The NST must be familiar with the following knowledge areas: Computer Network Terminology, Network Administration, Wide Area Networks and Devices Used to Extend Networks, Network Architectures, Computer Network Topologies and Classifications, Network Services, Network Operations, Network Standards, Troubleshooting LAN/WAN Test Equipment, Network Server and Workstation Computer System Hardware, Network Operating Systems, and Disaster and Security Planning for Networks. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Electronic Document Professional (EDP) is an industry designation awarded to qualified individuals who have demonstrated broad knowledge of and experience in digital communication-whether in print, over internal networks, or online-from document creation to distribution. EDP certification ensures that the recipient has demonstrated excellence by a thorough examination of his or her work, business ethics, and overall contributions to the industry through a rigorous evaluation process. The EDP certification is awarded to individuals currently working in the electronic document industry, with a minimum of five years active work experience in the industry, who accept the EDP Code of Ethics, who earn an equivalent of 100 education credits, and submit a portfolio of actual business examples that demonstrate and document the candidate's capabilities.

The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-1), Certified Network Computer Technician (NCT) should have knowledge of computer electronics basic concepts, Internet and networking technology applicable to various areas of the computer industry. More specifically, NCT candidates must be able to function, structure, operate, file manage, install, configure/upgrade, manage memory, diagnose and troubleshoot operating systems and hardware (including motherboard and processors and printers). Candidates must pass a written exam.

The International Computer Driving License (ICDL) is a basic skill level certification program that validates an individual's basic computer skills training. The ICDL is composed of modules covering computer topics. The modules are vendor neutral, i.e., not linked to a particular software firm. Candidates may select any combination of modules to create a custom program. There are no education or experience requirements and training is not mandatory.

The Adobe Certified Expert: Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2015 certification focuses on both key and new features of Dreamweaver CC. Typical candidates have 2+ years’ experience working with Dreamweaver on web projects and collaborating as a web designer/developer. Candidates have responsibility for architecting a site, designing page layouts, coding pages, and styling page elements with CSS. Candidates are familiar working with JavaScript behaviors and have the ability to publish sites via FTP transfers and are knowledgeable of web standards. Candidates can create and deploy pages that display in modern browsers across all screens and devices.

The PRSA Accreditation in Public Relations + Military Communication (APR+M) certification is an intermediate-level credential for military public affairs professionals. The APR+M program is a joint effort between DoD and PRSA. The APR+M aims at improving the military public affairs practice and establishing a standard of knowledge within the public affairs community that is transferable to civilian work. PRSA requires that candidates prepare responses to a panel questionnaire prior to sitting for the panel presentation; once the panel requirements are satisfied, candidates may then take the written exam.
