MOS 2871 Calibration Technician

MOS Description

Calibration Technicians are qualified to perform calibration of high density, low complexity test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Additionally, they are also qualified to repair and modify electrical/electronic TMDE. Typical duties include the calibration of high density, low complexity TMDE and the repair and modification of electrical/ electronic TMDE as necessary to include associated maintenance management and metrology documentation.

The International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET), Certified Electronics Technician - Journeyman-Level – Industrial credential is for technicians working in the electronics field. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of characteristics and applications of industrial electronic components, and the operation of devices such as triacs, SCRs, diacs, and Shockley diodes. In addition, candidates must understand transducers, transistors and op-amps operations, single-phase and three-phase control systems, motors, PLCs, and industrial electronics safety and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Candidates must pass a written exam.

Renewal Period: 4 years

The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Industrial Electronics Technician (IND) certification is an intermediate journeyman-level credential for electronics technicians. Candidates applying for IND certification are required to already hold the Associate Electronics Tecnician (CETa) certification and are expected to understand basic industrial electronics concepts applicable to various specialty areas of industrial electronics. IND candidates must be knowledgeable and have skills in the following areas: Amplifiers, Optical Wiring, Block Diagrams Schematics, Power Supplies, Test Equipment Tools, Mathematics, Computers Digital Concepts, Safety, Satellite Wireless Data, Communications, Cabling, Troubleshooting, Motors, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Software. Candidates must pass a written exam.
