MOS 2181 Ground Ordnance Weapons Chief

MOS Description

Senior Ground Ordnance Weapons Chief supervise the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all small arms weapons and towed artillery howitzers and direct the activities of assigned enlisted personnel in a small arms or towed artillery repair shop or facility. They supervise and manage the administration of small arms or towed artillery maintenance facilities and offices. The Senior Ground Ordnance Weapons Chief is proficient in the organization, management, operation and conduct of technical inspections of small arms weapons, and towed artillery howitzers, all equipment, and maintenance shops or facilities for maintaining small arms or towed artillery howitzers. The Senior Ground Ordnance Weapons Chief assists the Weapons Repair Officer in all duties and tasks. They manage command environmental and hazardous waste programs. They supervise and provide oversight of disposal, storage, emergency planning for hazardous waste, and ozone depleting substances.

The American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. Certified Six Sigma Black Belts demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics and assign team member roles and responsibilities. CSSBB candidates have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC) model in accordance with Six Sigma principles. Candidates have a basic knowledge of lean enterprise concepts, are able to identify non-value-added elements and activities and are able to use specific tools. CSSBB candidates must have two completed projects with signed affidavits or one completed project with signed affidavit and three years of work experience in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Body of Knowledge. Candidates do not need to be a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt to qualify for the CSSBB. Candidates must pass a written examination.

The Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM), Certified Manager (CM) is a general management certification. While it is appropriate for supervisors, managers, and leaders at all levels, in any industry, it is not necessary to hold a management title to earn the certification. A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt demonstrates a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Lean Six Sigma Method including a high-level of competence in the subject matters contained within the phases of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC). A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt implements, performs, interprets, and applies Lean Six Sigma at an advanced level of proficiency. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC), Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (ICGB) recognizes professionals who are well versed in the core to advanced elements of Lean Six Sigma Methodology. ICGBs possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Lean Six Sigma Method including competence in subject matters contained within the phases of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) as defined by the IASSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge and understand how to implement, perform, interpret and apply Lean Six Sigma at a high level of proficiency. ICGBs lead improvement projects and/or serve as team members on more complex improvement projects lead by a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, typically in a part-time role. There are no prerequisites required to take the ICGB exam.

The American Association for Lean Six Sigma Certification (AALSSC), Lean Six Sigma Black certification is for candidates who can effectively facilitate strategic planning sessions, lead change management efforts, and mentor Green Belts. The written exam tests the candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities across these focus areas. Black Belts are expected to have complete knowledge of all Green Belt topics in addition to the Black Belt knowledge areas. To be approved for the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification testing candidates must hold a current Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.

The American Association for Lean Six Sigma Certification (AALSSC), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is for candidates who have knowledge, skills and abilities to facilitate teams, improve processes and solve problems using Lean Six Sigma methods. There are not any specific education requirements but it is recommended that candidates have knowledge of the Lean Six Sigma.
