MOS 2111 Small Arms Repairer/Technician

MOS Description

Small Arms Repairer/Technician in the grade of Private through Lance Corporal, under supervision, performs basic duties to include to inspection, maintenance, and repair of all small arms, less vehicular mounted weapons. The Small Arms Repairer/Technician also completes basic shop administrative forms and records utilizing technical manuals and Marine Corps Orders. At the Corporal through Gunnery Sergeant level the Small Arms Repairer/Technician performs, trains, and supervises various duties incident to inspection, maintenance, and repair of all small arms, to include Vehicular Mounted Small Arms. The Small Arms Repairer/Technician also prepares, maintains, and supervises a shop maintenance and management program and coordinates maintenance and repair of small arms according to grade.

The International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET), Certified Electronics Technician - Associate-Level is an entry-level certification. This certification validates the candidate's basic electronic knowledge for entry-level electronic professions. The exam covers basic electronics, math, DC and AC circuits, transistors and troubleshooting. The Associate CET is also a pre-requisite for ISCET Journeyman level certifications. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The CLS is an individual who is assigned to: conduct, evaluate, select the proper lubricants to use, make recommendations to change lubricants and assist in purchasing lubricants by identifying which companies and products can be used interchangeably, in a cost-effective manner. The CLS conducts lube surveys and specifies lubricants and procedures to those buying or installing new equipment, Applicants taking the exam must attest to three years minimum experience in the field of lubrication and pass a written examination.

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (CMRP) is an entry-level certification. The Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) program is designed for certifying the knowledge, skills and experience of M&R professionals. It's more than just committing textbooks to memory; it's a thorough examination of individual expertise measured against a universal standard. It was developed to assess professionals' aptitude within the five (5) pillars of the Maintenance and Reliability Body of Knowledge: Business Management, Equipment Reliability, Manufacturing Process Reliability, Organization and Leadership, and Work Management. The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP), Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT) is an entry-level certification. CMRT will provide a non-biased, third-party, objective assessment and confirmation of the skills of your industrial maintenance mechanics. CMRT's are responsible for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. They perform troubleshooting and analysis, and apply sound maintenance practices in all aspects of their work. CMRTs are multi-skilled individuals whose expertise is primarily mechanical in nature as opposed to instrumentation or electrical. The CMRT exam tests competency and knowledge of specific tasks within four (4) domains: Maintenance Practices, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Analysis, and Corrective Maintenance. There are no specific education or experience requirements to sit for the exam. Candidates must pass a written exam.
