MOS 1869 Senior Armor SNCO

MOS Description

The Senior Armor SNCO serves as the senior enlisted technical and tactical advisor to the Commander on Tank operations. Additionally, the Senior Armor SNCO advises the commander on the condition, care and economical use of unit resources and equipment. The Senior Armor SNCO coordinates and supervises all aspects of the platoon, company or battalion operations, logistics and the administrative requirements that affect unit readiness. The Senior Armor SNCO assists with the development of the unit’s training plan and management of the Unit Readiness Program to ensure all tasks support the unit’s core and assigned Mission Essential Tasks. The Senior Armor SNCO serves as the principle mentor to the Armor (1812, 1869) community.

The International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET), Certified Electronics Technician -Journeyman-Level – Radar credential validates the technician’s general knowledge of both continuous wave and pulse radar operation. Candidates must know about transmitters and receivers, antennas, transmission lines and their characteristics and CRT display systems and their power supplies. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification is an intermediate, managerial credential developed for professionals who demonstrate competency and work part-time or full-time in supervisory positions with tasks devoted to the prevention of harm to individuals in the workplace environment. The STS is often sought by safety professionals who are first-line supervisors and managers. STS applicants must have expertise in monitoring worksites for job hazards, helping to ensure regulatory compliance occurs, training employees in safety practices, performing safety-related record keeping, coordinating corrections for safety problems within or among work groups, and communicating with safety specialists or management. Applicants must pass a written examination.

The United States Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is for individuals who drive certain Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs). There are three classes of CDLs with endorsements for specialized qualifications for vehicles like school buses, tank trucks, and tractor trailers. The U.S. Department of Transportation requires drivers to obtain and hold a CDL if they operate in interstate, intrastate, or foreign commerce and drive a vehicle that meets one or more of the classifications of a CMV described on the FMSCA website. FMSCA has developed and issued standards for state testing and licensing of CDL holders. These standards require state governments to issue CDLs to certain CMV drivers only after the driver passes knowledge and skills testing that is administered by the state and related to the type of vehicle the driver expects to operate.

The Association of Equipment Management Professionals, Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) is a professional credential for managers of off-road heavy equipment fleets or managers of municipal government fleets. Equipment managers with five years or more of experience who meet the CEM requisites may apply by completing the CEM application.
