MOS 0313 Light Armored Reconnaissance Marine

MOS Description

The Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Marine is an infantry Marine skilled in Armored Reconnaissance. In addition to basic infantry skills, they are knowledgeable in armored reconnaissance and surveillance, and armored security missions in support of the MAGTF to gain information on the enemy and terrain. LAR Marines provide gunnery and weapons skills for the employment of the 25mm Chain Gun, the Coaxial and Pintle-Mounted 7.62mm Machineguns and thermal optics on the LAV-25 variant. LAR Marines receive advanced training as vehicle operators, LAV-25 Gunners, LAR Vehicle Commanders and LAR Master Gunners.

CCOs are knowledgeable in managing offenders; controlling offender movement; maintaining health, safety, and sanitation; use of effective communication; and have an understanding about corrections, general skills, equipment control, and ethics and law. Applicants must meet the minimum academic and experience requirements. Applicants must pass a written exam.

The ASIS International, Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification is designed for individuals whose primary responsibilities are to conduct physical security surveys, design integrated security systems that include equipment, procedures, and people; or install, operate or maintain those systems and who have demonstrated in-depth operational knowledge and competence in this area. Candidates must meet academic and experience requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The International Association of Emergency Managers (iAEM), Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) certification is an intermediate-level credential recommended for emergency management professionals. AEMs have the knowledge, skills and ability to effectively manage a comprehensive emergency management program, in all environments, and be able to plan and coordinate with other agencies and community members ways to best respond to emergencies. Professionals considering this credential must possess expertise in all four phases of disaster activity: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Candidates must pass a written exam, submit evidence of meeting their training requirement, provide references and submit an emergency management essay.

The American Correctional Association (ACA), Certified Corrections Supervisor (CCS) is a mid-management level credential recommended for professionals who work with both staff and offenders in a correctional setting. A CCS is responsible for implementing agency procedures and supervising/evaluating personnel which may include Central/Regional Office staff, Business Office personnel, Correctional Supervisors, Training Officers, Food/Health Service Staff, Maintenance staff, Recreation personnel, Industries personnel, Caseworkers/Correctional Counselors, Chaplains, Teachers, Staff Psychologists, Lieutenants, and Sergeants. Candidates must meet the minimum academic and experience requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The CHMP is intended to enhance regulatory compliance, safety, and overall credibility of operations, and provide recognition to individuals who meet its rigorous requirements. Candidates must meet a combination of education and/or experience requirements and pass a written exam.

The American Correctional Association, Certified Corrections Officer/Provisional (CCO/P) credential is available to graduating students who have studied for a career in a correctional setting. It is also available to cadets graduating from the Department of Corrections Training Academy. To achieve permanent certification status, candidates must secure a full-time position in a corrections-related agency within two years of passing the required written exam and receive a satisfactory performance rating at the end of one year on the job.

The SAPPC is ideal for personnel who will be or are already performing security functions as an additional and/or embedded duty on behalf of (and as specified by) a DoD Component. The certification is also ideal for personnel who are working toward or already occupy full-time security positions for which attainment of this certification has been deemed a requirement or a professional development milestone. The SAPPC is the second of four certifications within the SPeD Certification Program. To obtain the SAPPC, candidates must already be a recipient of the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).

The CDGP is an unbiased verification that a company employs a global expert that can help the employer demonstrate to suppliers, customers, and enforcement agencies that they excel at regulatory compliance and safety. Applicants must have five years of relevant experience and pass a written exam.

The Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE), Physical Security Certification (PSC) is a part of Department of Defense's (DoD) Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. PSC is ideal for DoD, Industry, and federal members performing physical security functions. PSC assesses foundational knowledge in the following areas of expertise: physical security concepts; physical security standards; standards, countermeasures, and planning; and physical security planning and implementation. Candidates must be a DoD personnel or a federal employee or contractor assigned to a security position to be eligible for the exam. Candidates must pass a written exam.

CSSPs are responsible for developing security-related policies, operating plans, procedures, and creating and implementing training. CSSPs serve in command positions during events and supervise event personnel to ensure that event plans are being followed. The International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC), Tactical Responder Certification (TR-C) is for operators functioning within a team and have a primary law enforcement role with a secondary medic role. TR-Cs are generally Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs), or Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) who have competency in casualty assessment, stabilization, and evacuation in hostile and austere environments in a non-paramedic function; as well as thorough familiarity with tactical principles, triage, and operational medicine. The certification process is focused on decreasing preventable deaths at the point of wounding and is aligned with the three definitive phases of TECC/TCCC care. Candidates must meet prerequisite requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.
